Using vegetable oil to fuel your car is apparently not part of the government’s plan to support alternative sources of energy (not that I think that it is the government’s business anyway), at least not if you do not wait for their permission. We cannot have people be ingenious in finding ways to cut costs for themselves, since that would not be fair to those who are not that smart. I suggest we also fine everyone who does not drive a car and avoids paying motor fuel taxes that way.

Philosopher Richard Rorty died on Friday June 8, 2007. Links to reflections in his death can be found here. A great piece worth checking out was written by Roger Scruton.
A new study by the Williams Institute, a UCLA think tank concerned with sexual orientation and public policy, found not only that gay couples are still discriminated against when it comes to foster care and adoption but also warns that a ban on gay and lesbian foster care, such as has been proposed various states, could cost states up to $27 Million Dollars and a national ban up to $130 Million Dollars.
I just have one question. What is the argument for thinking that a government run foster care program dealing with thousands of abandoned children can take better care of them than a couple who is willing to care, provide for and love a child by their own choice?
